While open weights and datasets lower barriers to entry, they also channel research efforts into pathways that benefit NVIDIA's broader hardware and software ecosystem.
The key question for the research community is whether this concentration of foundational tools in one corporate stack will ultimately accelerate innovation or subtly constrain the directions it can take.
